Description
This lino-cut forms part of a series from my “Artist-in-Residence” at The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival 2018 in Colne. The Colne Blues Festival was my first introduction to Charlotte Marshall And The 45s and I was blown away! I sketched the band from the theatre before heading back-stage to sketch from a gap in the stage curtains. Of everything I have produced from two years in succession as “Artist-in-Residence” at the Festival, including oil paintings, trace mono-prints, lino-cuts and sketches, the rapid fire live sketches of Charlotte are some of my favourite works. The cutting and machining of this particular plate involved changes where a successful outcome was not guaranteed, therefore I am especially pleased with the final print.
