A bit of Scotland returns to Scotland

On Monday 16th July 2018 I returned to Number Four Gallery in St. Abbs, Scotland to deliver fresh work including these two oil paintings that were inspired by a landscape painting week on the west coast of Scotland. So a little bit of Scotland has sort of returned home!

“Magical Stream To Sea Loch” and “Filtered Light Over Scottish Loch” are both studio paintings following a series of en plein air works done in and around the Loch Sween vicinity. The first of the two paintings now at Number Four Gallery is looking along a burn through twisted trees to a secluded beach which is only accessible from a fairly rough track or by boat. The track leads to the beach and ends at the beach so no chance of a circular route with this unless you’ve access to a boat! Locals call this beach “Queen’s Beach” because prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth moored the Royal Yacht off this beach and they were then transported by small boat to the beach.

The second painting is from a trip over to Loch Caolisport where we were treated to incredible lighting effects through the broken clouds.
